Playing
and singing is my passion!
I've
performed in every situation known to man except maybe Carnegi Hall.
But who knows. I do all types of shows... backyard parties, house concerts,
weddings, corporate events, background music at resteraunts, shows at
pubs, coffee houses, fund raisers, you name it and I can come up with
a set of music to fit the occasion. I can play original
music or play cover songs to fit
your occasion. To help you see what will fit best, cover songs are more
for background music or a mingle party atmosphere where my original
songs are more for a concert, where you sit and listen intentionally
to the music. I will travel anywhere in the United States and if the
situation is right anywhere in the world except maybe Stone Mountain
Ga where I live because then it really wouldn't be traveling.
Booking
Keith for an event.
It's
really pretty easy to book me for an event. My fees and expectations
are reasonable. I do this because I love it but I also have a growing
family to provide for, 21 at last count. You can read about them in
my newsletter. In the Following paragraphs
I will give a break down of everthing you need to know to book me for
an event: Basic fees, travel
expences, sound
requirements, availability,
house concerts
and what a Keith Naylor
concert is like.
Basic
Fees
My
Fees vary from $300 to $1500 depending on the event and the location.
This of course does not include traveling expences unless you live in
the Atlanta Ga area. When scheduling an event out of town I try to book
three or four events in the same area so the traveling expences can
be shared. The following are some basic events and a general idea of
the financial expectations.
Party
with background music:
$300 in the Atlanta area and $500 plus travel expenses outside the
Atlanta area. I've played at all kinds of parties from Halloween
to birthday to end of the year little league baseball party. Live
music can be a great asset to any party.
House
Concerts:
$300-$500, House
concerts are a great way to get people together for a meaningful
night of music and building relationships. You can't get a more
intimate setting to hear live music. Be sure to read the section
on house concerts because the fee can be raised very simply.
Church
events and leading worship:
I have a particular interest in ministering to the church and leading
them into the intimacy of God. I only have a suggested fee. I work
with each church individually to come up with the amount God has
given them the freedom to give. Contact
me and we can discuss your situation.
Weddings:
$700-$1000, Being backup music at
the wedding reception would be on the low end and singing in the
actually wedding would be higher. I've also done a combination of
both which makes best use of my time and your money. I am able to
learn special songs for the wedding if it is scheduled far enough
in advance.
Benefits
and Fundraisers:
I try to do as many of these as time
permits. I found the most successful way for both parties is either
to find someone to donate my fee ($300-$600) with all the ticket
proceeds going to the event or I can split the ticket proceeds 50/50.
This helps me to participate in many more fundraisers. I would also
ask that I have the opportunity to sell my CDs.
Travel
Expenses:
Travel expences include everything it
cost to get me to your event and back home. This includes airfair, gas,
rental cars and lodging while I am there. I will try my best to schedule
additional shows in your area so the travel expense can be split. Also
a little plus is I'm pretty low maintenance and I would be willing to
stay with whoever would take the risk of having me. Remembering I am
6'5" and I can't sleep on the toddlers 5' bed.
Sound
Requirements:
If you are in the Atlanta area I can
bring my own sound system and all I would need is an electical outlet.
If I have to travel I would need a good sound system that will accomodate
the venue I will be playing at. At the minimum I would need a sound
system with at least 300 watts per channel. I would also need least
three xlr plug ins and of course an electrical outlet on the stage.
If all this sounds greek to you then just contact
me and I can explain exactly what I need.
Availability:
If you want to have me for an event the
first thing to do is look over my calender
to see if I am available. I usally schedule at
least three months out sometimes longer. Then you want to contact
me and we can put you on the schedule and talk about the specific
details of the event and what you want to accomplish.
House
Concerts:
The very best way to see a concert is
with a house concert. A house concert is basically a concert in someones
house. This is becoming very popular in folk circles for several reasons.
One, it's a small group of mostly friends coming together in an intimate
setting to hear upclose and personal your favorite artists. Two, it's
cheap. For $10-$15 you can have a wonderful evening out, hear a great
concert while partaking of your favorite wine and ordeurvs and have
a terrific relationship building time with your friends. Three, It's
my favorite place to play. I get to interact with you on a more personal
level, I get to share more detailed what is behind my song writing and
it helps me to expose my music to people who haven't heard it. It's
a win win for me. If you want to know more about putting on a house
concert go to the following link.
House
Concerts It's an article about
a couple who had a house concert. If you decide this is for you then
I can take you step by step through the process to make sure it's successful.
Contact me and we can talk
about it.
What's
a Keith Naylor Concert like?
First
of all it's not just listening to music but it is the interaction of
relationships that happens over music. To me it's all about connection.
Growing closer in our connection to God and others. A concert gives
opportunity for a focused time of relationships as we are able to connect
with the stories of one another. Of course I share my story through
music. My music is two fold. First it is the best expression I can give
of what's going on inside me. CS Lewis said he reads that he might find
someone who thinks the same way he thinks. I believe we listen to music
to find someone who feels the same way we feel. It could be a melody
that stirs an old feeling or it could be a phrase, that puts together
in a few words, a feeling that we have that we couldn't express. To
connect to another human being always brings hope. It tells us that
we are not alone and if they are making it then maybe I can make it.
And that's what I want to bring in my concerts. Hope for another day
of living. The second thing I believe my music bring is honesty. It's
very difficult these days to find places you can be absolutely honest.
To be accepted as we are without the facades and walls of defense we
carry in most areas of our lives. Through my music I seek to encourage
an honesty that brings freedom, for secrets bind us and honesty sets
us free. As for the genre of my music it's folk music. Which is story
music. It tells a story either about me or someone I have met or a story
of a principal I may be learning and yes there is no folk music without
protest music which I throw a few in for the sake of the integrity of
the folk tradition. You can listen to some samples at Keith's
samples.
